The pandemic has increased awareness of investors for the need to ethically invest in companies with better ESG rankings; statistics have shown that ESG companies worldwide with higher ESG rankings have fared better while coping with pandemic issues. In the wake of this increasing ESG ranking sentiment among investors, PwC Malaysia and Capital Markets Malaysia has released a research publication titled 'Positioning Corporate Malaysia for a sustainable future’. This publication highlights that the capital market is in a unique position to drive meaningful change in sustainability practices in public listed companies. The publication explores efforts made by the government and regulatory bodies in Malaysia in laying the foundation to catalyze action to incorporate ESG initiatives in companies.
Discuss the role of ESG practices in the environmental and social improvement of Malaysian companies to improve the overall quality of life and spur an ethically yet profitable business landscape in Malaysia.
