(Fail/Redo) The assignment evaluated is of a basic standard. The arguments presented have some logical structure and are supported by academic literature in most cases. The academic literature used is outside of the suggestions made in the module guide but remains limited. 29% and Below
(Module retake) The assignment evaluated is of an unacceptable standard. There is little or no evidence of knowledge and understanding that is required at this level. Referencing is inadequate or non-existent. The learning outcomes have not been addressed fully and the work requires significant modification to bring it to a passable standard.
Project Management Theory and Practice
Module description
A successful project manager should combine the science of project management with the art of managing people and processes, to achieve the desired optimal results. This specialization is appropriate for those persons who wish to develop professionally, increase their project management skills, apply a structured standards-based approach to management of projects, and seek career progression by moving into a formal Project Manager role.
Learning outcomes
LO1. Understand the fundamentals of Strategic Project Management including Project Planning.
LO2. Know the essentials of project development, including creation of risk plan in a strategic context.
LO3. Understand the rudiments of project team management and the importance of a project manager being a strategic leader.
LO4. Demonstrate the application of Project Management practice to a variety of contexts and challenges
Expectations
1. Materials Access
All learning materials are provided in the form of a module kit and can be accessed from the Learning Management system (LMS)
2. Learning Hours
Students need to be aware of their commitment requirements in regard to study time. In order to give you an indication of that, we have based the following information on the United Kingdom (UK) Higher Education Quality Assurance Agency guidelines. “The notional learning hours associated with qualifications, programmes and individual units of study are based on a broad agreement across institutions that students can expect to spend 10 hours learning on average in order to gain one academic credit unit” (QAA 2006).
3. Re-sit
If you do not secure a pass, please read closely the feedback and speak with your Course leader(s) or faculty. After consulting the feedback, close attention is essential to rework on the areas of weakness, and then resubmit the work at the next opportunity. As per the QAA requirements, only one REDO is allowed where the marks will be capped at a Pass.
4. Plagiarism
All forms of plagiarism are taken seriously, and any suspected cases will be investigated thoroughly. If a case is found proven then the work will be graded as a fail and the case will be reviewed by the academic committee.
5. Student appeals
There are no re-evaluations as the marks are graded and internally verified before release. However, as per our appeals policy, a student can make an appeal to the course leader which will be then reviewed by the academic committee (please check our academic policies and procedures manual for more information)
6. Assignment submission extensions
Students can apply for extensions via the LMS based on extenuating circumstances (if any) with evidence (proof) as per our extensions policy

ASSIGNMENT TASK
NOTE: - This assignment is designed to test your knowledge and understanding of Theory and practice in Project Management. There are two tasks given below, and each task relates to an aspect of Project Management. Task 1 is a written report and Task 2 is a reflective report. You will be required to attempt all tasks. It is expected that a participant writes approximately 4000 words for Task 1 and 1500 words for task 2.. You must support your answers with evidence from acknowledged academic sources. Personal experiences can also be used to illustrate the application of a topic/theory, but the participants must still provide evidence from acknowledged sources to support their answers. The sessions and activities conducted during classes are not the only sources of information. You are encouraged to draw on as many appropriate sources as you can. The more you engage with the literature of the topic, the better the likelihood of achieving a higher grade/ award.
Assignment Task 1: Report (75 marks, 4000 words)
Scenario (hypothetical): - ‘Eagle Eye needs your help!’
Eagle Eye is a US based firm which is a global leader in the provision of threat detection and screening technologies for military, transportation, Security and resilience applications. You are a freelance Project management consultant with years of experience and you were hired by Eagle Eye on July 1st, 2021 to provide project management consulting to help them relocate their current headquarters based at New York, US to Vancouver, Canada.
Eagle eye had recently acquired a large client base in Canada and the stakeholders at Eagle Eye have jointly agreed that this relocation is the best plan of action to help them perform their business operations much more effectively and hence the relocation. However, this is a grand transition which would require a high level of planning. The relocation project is scheduled to be completed by 31st December, 2021 so that the new headquarters is up and running on January 1st, 2022.
The total budget approved for this relocation project is 10 million USD. The Eagle eye board has also agreed that you that you will be getting a handsome incentive if the relocation project is completed a month before schedule and 3 million USD under budget. The entire relocation project includes but is not limited to:-
• closure of the headquarters in New York
• Relocation of numerous operations including customer service, accounting and finance, R and D etc.
• Staff retentions
• Rehiring of some personnel in Vancouver
A few additional Risks already identified include but not limited to:-
• Lack of downtime permitted as all the operations still need to continue without much delays
• Relocation and removal of Hazardous Materials
• A major SAP change was required to accommodate changes in accounting and operations
• HQ is moving to one facility, while many other services might have to be moved to other facilities in Canada
As a PM expert , you have to work with the client, key personnel, and various stakeholders and establish a collaborative team to rapidly assess the issues, challenges, and legal requirements to expedite execution .The entire PM plan needs to be submitted in the form of a report by answering the following questions:-
