Dear Student, thank you for your blog. For this assignment you need to answer the task of Assignment 2 with the focus being on HR PLANNING in particular. You only need to give a short background of the company and then research the topic of HR PLANNING and review McDonald's challenges, issues and practices in relation to planning, whether it be about staffing, culture, retention, training etc. And you need to critically analyse this and make recommendations. When you do your main assignment make sure you have a clear structure and that your arguments flow. Where are your sources and references?
ASSIGNMENT TOPIC IN ACTUAL:-
'Numerous difficulties surrounding the practice of human resource planning may thwart its potential to serve as the link between organisational strategy and HR practices. These difficulties may be sufficient to lead organisations to abandon any thoughts of practicing human resource planning, may conspire to reduce the effectiveness of human resource practice or limit its application to short term operational matters.' (Millmore et al 2007)
Choose an organisation of your choice, examine their current state of practice in human resource planning by collecting data and relevant information on the practice. Critically analyse the information gathered and address the following:
How extensive is human resource planning practiced in the case organisation?
What kind of difficulties have they encountered?
Identify gaps in practice and in knowledge relating to human resource planning
From your findings, is human resource planning the vital link or the missing/weakest link between organisational and HR strategies?
Using relevant literature, provide recommendations for improving current practice

Essay Writing
Essays are a learning tool. They require you to gather and assess a range of information in relation to a particular question. To do this you need to distinguish between information that is relevant and not relevant, evaluate what people have said, and arrive at your own ideas on the topic based upon the different perspectives and viewpoints you have examined. Your ideas then need to be presented in such a way that the reader can clearly understand your view, the debate surrounding the topic and how you have arrived at your position. This means your ideas must be clearly articulated, logically presented and well supported.
There are many sites where you can find information about essay planning, structure, and formatting. If you are unclear about how to begin use the structure found athttp://www.csu.edu.au/division/studserv/my-studies/learning/pdfs/essay.pdf
Remember your essay should present your ideas and be supported with appropriate evidence and references.
