To propose and plan a project with the potential to satisfy the project based requirements of
the Masters programme.
To demonstrate self-direction and originality in tackling and solving problems through the
planning and implementation of a project/dissertation.
Task:
Prepare a single page poster (one page of soft cnpy in PDF or PPT format) detailing your Topic/idea
and plan for your proposed project. This will be used to support an oral presentation (pitch) of the
project at the poster event session with a panel of assessors. Your poster should include sufficient
visual representation of your Topic/ideas. Your oral presentation should last around 8 minutes, with
5-7 minutes to answer questions posed by the assessors.
The poster should include:
Proposed research problem statement, including draft aim and objectives
Proposed methodology
Proposed Work schedule - consideration of tasks and timescales, assumptions and risks
identified, assumptions, potential risks and ethics considerations.
1000 Words equivalent: A visual representation of ideas and plan for research together with
a 15minutes presentation session.
You should also upload an electronic copy of your poster to Moodle on or before 23:00hrs on 13th
Jan 2020 using the naming convention student ID and unit number (e.g. 657890 U22983). This is
required to enable review by external examiners and for sampling purposes. It may also be used for
display around the School.

Identify and critically examine key research tools and techniques.
Organise library searches effectively to identify key source material and review such material
to establish a well-informed context for the project and appropriate justification for the topic.
Assemble a viable research methodology, recognising the quantitative and/or qualitative
elements that are generic to such methodologies. Classify, analyse and develop the facts,
principles and theories relevant to the project and apply them so as to present and justify an
innovative solution or design, often in areas where information and practice are
undeveloped.
Recognise and discuss any ethical considerations presented by the proposed project and
formulate transparent procedures to protect participants and environments
