CONTEXT: The English reading list has been the focus of debate in preparation for the implementation of the upcoming Senior Australian Curriculum. One of the areas of debate is the place of classic literature in the modern classroom. The Head of English is considering the removal of some older texts in order to replace them with more contemporary texts as they would be more relevant to modern readers.
TASK: As a senior student you are to prepare and present a PUBLIC PERSUASIVE SPEECH to the Head of English in order to persuade her that The Great Gatsby is relevant to modern readers and is of significant literary value; therefore it should be retained in the modern classroom.

LATE SUBMISSION / NON SUBMISSION:
In cases of late submission of student responses to assessment instruments, judgements are based on evidence available on or before the due date (drafts)
In cases of non-submission of student responses to assessment instruments, standards are not awarded when there is no evidence.
If no evidence has been provided by the final due date, despite the opportunities given, then the student will be awarded a NS (non-submission) for the task. This will impact on the student's overall result and could result in their not being credited for the semester unit of work.
EXTENSIONS / SPECIAL PROVISION:
A student may request an extension before the due date
Such extensions will be given, only, when a student demonstrates that the work in question cannot be handed in on time for reasons beyond his/her control.
