Guidelines/Scenario
You are required to submit a personal journal (template attached) that includes a description of the relationships with people you can be in contact with on a day-to-day basis including your colleagues, the residents of a healthcare setting, their families and other personnel. You can refer to experience acquired within a simulated environment also within your journal.
The journal should describe your own personal learning in the role of a care worker. You should include the following as part of your response:
1. Effective reflection on relationships that develop in care work. 2. Clear identification of interpersonal issues that can arise in care work such as recognising diversity and individuality in clients, families and co-workers. 3. Effective reflection on own interpersonal skills and personal effectiveness as a care worker, highlighting personal strengths and weaknesses 4. Completion of detailed skills audit
5. Observations on the experience of receiving guidance and direction, and giving and receiving feedback.
6. Detailed evidence of expertise for safeguarding privacy and dignity of clients and caring for clients’ property.
The total time allowed to complete this assessment is two to three weeks. Evidence for this assessment technique may be written, oral, graphic, audio, visual or any combination of these. Any audio, video or digital evidence must be provided in a suitable format.
