Assessment type: Report — Individual Assessment. 2500 + 10% Report.
Purpose: To allow students to continue and extend their application of the knowledge and skills of the subject to a real world example facing current issues in logistics management. This assessment relates to Learning Outcomes a, b, c, d and e.
Value: 30% of total marks Due Date: Week 10 — 5:00 pm Friday.
Submission: Upload a soft copy — Word .doc or .docx to Moodle and Turnitin via the link on the subject Moodle page.
Topic: Air Cargo in the United Kingdom.
Task: Students will need to:
1. Analyse the main factors helping or restricting air cargo development in the United Kingdom.
2. Compare and contrast the factors that have affected air cargo growth in the United Kingdom and other major air cargo hubs (e.g. Hong Kong, Anchorage or Dubai).
3. Discuss the challenges that prevent developing the air cargo industry further.
Following the analysis students will need to propose supported recommendations to manage the issue(s) that restrict air cargo development in the United Kingdom.
Research Requirements: Students need to support their analysis with reference from the text and a minimum of eight (8) suitable, reliable, current and academically acceptable sources — check with your tutor if unsure of the validity of sources. Students seeking credit or above grades should support their analysis with increased number of reference sources comparable to the grade they are seeking.
Presentation: 2500 +/- 10% word response - word count applies to content only, not title page, table of contents and references list. Responses should include relevant logistics management theories —referenced and their application explained — do not just quote or paraphrase the theory. Short report format — title page, introduction, suitable headings and subheadings, recommendations, reference list - use Harvard (Anglia) referencing style.
