In this assignment you need to submit three different files using one data file. Complete the following steps to ensure you create the right files.
Step 1: Review the scenario
Scenario
Melbourne Medical Co. assembles three products of Alpha 5, Alpha 7 and Beta 5, used in medical devices. It is located in Victoria and sells its products through selected distributors in different Australian cities to hospitals and medical centres.
You have been hired as a recent Swinburne University graduate to assist Philip, the Factory Manager, to analyse sales data. You need to use the data provided to visual the data in the best way.
Phillip does not know what software he wants to use so he asked you to use the three common software tools and help him decide which one is the best to use.
Step 2: Download the file Sales data Download Sales data(XLSX 31 KB).
Step 3: Use Excel to visualise the data. Watch the video A comparison: Excel, Power BU and Tableau (Links to an external site.) (Moradi 2021) from the start to 33:25 for a step by step on how to do this. Please note that the data used in the video will be different to the data you have be provided with. However each step is still the same.
Step 4: Use Power BI to visualise the data. Watch the video A comparison: Excel, Power BU and Tableau (Links to an external site.) (Moradi 2021) from 33:25 - 1:02:53 for a step by step on how to do this. Please note that Power BI doesnt work well on Mac devices. If you are on a Mac you will need to use Citrix to download and use PowerBI in a virtual PC workspace. Another easier option is to use a PC for this step.
Step 5: Use Tableau to visualise the data. Watch the video A comparison: Excel, Power BU and Tableau (Links to an external site.) (Moradi 2021) from 1:02:53 to the end for a step by step on how to do this.
Step 6: Consider which of the software tools you would recommend Philip to use. There is no right or wrong answer here as it is personal preference (and you dont need to write it down) but take some time to think about what you liked or didnt like with each of the three tools.
